Description: Yukultji Napangatis€ painting is a depiction of a rock hole and soakage site at Walpurru. The small rocky outcrops and sand hills that are a feature of the landscape are depicted in this painting. The location takes its name from small black seeds which are found near the soakage and which are ground and made into a flour paste and cooked. Walpurru is between the eastern extremes of the Gibson and Great Sandy deserts in Western Australia.


Biography of Artist: Yukultji Napangati is based at Kintore and is a member of the Papunya Tula Artists. The exhibition €Family€ at Utopia Art Sydney in 2002 included Yukultji, with other family members who were some of the last aboringinal groups to emerge from the desert.
