About Epoch Investment Partners (Epoch)
Epoch, a New York based US and global equity investment manager, was established in 2004 and is a listed public company subject to rigorous disclosure requirements. (NASDAQ listed, ticker EPHC). As of 31 December 2011, approximately 40% of Epoch’s shares are owned by the employees, executives and directors of the firm. Epoch had AUD $18.7 billion funds under management at the end of the fourth quarter 2011.
Epoch believes that focusing on free cash flow, instead of traditional valuation measures such as Price Earnings (P/E) ratios will be the key to producing superior risk adjusted returns. In addition, they expect that shareholder yield (cash dividends, share buybacks and debt reductions) will regain its historical role as a significant contributor to total return. All Epoch’s investment strategies are managed in accordance with this investment philosophy. They analyse a company in the same manner a private investor would if looking to purchase the entire company and look for companies that generate free cash flow and securities that have unrecognized potential yet possess a combination of above average yield, above average free cash flow growth, and/or below average valuation.
CEO and co-CIO Bill Priest, an industry veteran with over 45 years investment experience has a long history of providing timely perspectives on investment issues. We encourage you to peruse not only his recent research papers, but also those of other members of Epoch's investment personnel (who average over 20 years investment experience) which are available on their website www.eipny.com.
About Tribeca Investment Partners (Tribeca)
Tribeca was established in 1998 and is an Australian equity specialist boutique investment manager. They have a very experienced team who own a majority equity stake in the business with the remainder held by Grant Samuel Funds Management.
Tribeca specialises in managing high alpha, style neutral strategies:
-
Tribeca Small Companies strategy, which is offered to the retail market as the Grant Samuel Tribeca Australian Smaller Companies Fund uses fundamental analysis and disciplined stock research to invest in a relatively concentrated portfolio of quality small cap companies.
-
Tribeca Alpha Plus Fund, which is referred to in the retail market as the Class A - Grant Samuel Tribeca Alpha Plus Units, also combines quantitative stock selection with bottom up fundamental research driven stock picking. The Fund is fully equitised (having 100% equity market exposure) but can short up to 50% of the Fund and reinvest in stocks it finds attractive. This Fund targets significant outperformance against the S&P/ASX 200 index with a higher tracking error, relative to the Tribeca Core Fund.
-
In 2011 Tribeca launched the Global Total Return Fund. The Fund is a diversified macro investment program which aims to reliably generate alpha over a floating cash rate. It does this by operating several sub-strategies that invest in multiple asset classes and at wide range of time scales. Each sub-strategy aims to be uncorrelated with the others and to major market risks on average.
